Sports Coach – yes – as I am qualified in both Cricket & Football, holding Qualifications with the England & Wales Cricket Board (The ECB) and The Football Association (The FA).
First Qualified as a Coach in 2006 having dome some coaching in the previous years. I decided in 2005 to become a qualified cricket coach. Success in March 2006 when I attended and passed my Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Cricket. The same year I attended the Level 2 Course and with supported practices (10) and assessment I qualified as Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Cricket in march 2007. At this same time I took over the Head Coach role at Tadworth Cricket Club. This was to allow the previous coach to have more time watching his own younsgters play their cricket – I am still Head Coach today.
Paul has run academies at HORLEY – Oakwood School and BURGH HEATH – Aberdour School in previous years and at EWELL Castle School for Surrey Cricket’s Pre-Christmas and Post Christmas Devvelopment and performance courses.
I have coached cricket for various clubs:- Surrey Cricket, Tadworth, Outwood, Capel, Newdigate, Westcott, Limpsfield Chart, Sutton, Caterham, Reigate Priory, Dorking, Mynthurst, Horley and MCC Indoor Academy at Lords.

CHANCE TO SHINE:
Is an excellent Cricket Charity and the source of my wrist bands that I wear.
2015 – I Walked on Wales – WOW more info at www.walkonwales.com My Chosen charities were Chance to Shine and Llanberis Mountain Rescue.
I have delivered Chance to Shine Cricket for Caterham Cricket Club and Newdigate Cricket Club and number of others at the request of Surrey Cricket.
SURREY YOUTH GAMES:
In association with Newdigate Cricket Club (John Callcut) and Mole Valley Borough Council in 2011 we delivered a program of girls cricket to five Dorking Schools. Why five – one for each day of the school week. This was followed up with a weekly later evening session at Newdigate Cricket Club leading up to the Surrey Youth Games tournament in June 2011 held at Surrey Sports Park. Our squad won (lost their first game), and also in 2012 (won all games). Runners up in 2014.
In 2008 I thought about a Coaching Qualification in football – as I was a Level 2 in Cricket. I thought that Football can’t be that difficult. So I booked on a Level 2 course with the Surrey FA, (no I hadn’t previously done the Level 1). Attended February 2009 and looking around at the various ages and ability wondered what was I doing here!!.
I qualified in 2009 with a second assessment which I arranged at Horley Town Football Club. My assessor on both occasions was Ted Dale.
The majority of my Football Coaching was at Horley Town FC (Senior First team, Reserves and various Junior Squads), as they assisted with my Level 2 but I have also delivered to HORLEY Schools, Yattendon and Manorfield. Community coaching also delivered with both Fulham FC and Brighton & Hove Albion FC.
I have also passed three driving tests – the one we all pass from 17 – Institute of Advanced Motorists Driving test – and the part 2 (of3) Driving Instructor Driving test
Although I am not a qualified Driving Instructor I can pass on my knowledge and experience of driving, and the methodology of this instructing compliments by coaching of cricket and football.
I am in Information technology with over 25 years experience in supporting computers from those on your desk to ensuring that your email / data servers are operational 24×7 – business as usual some say. Perhaps today I should call it ICT – Information, Communications technology.
I have worked this magic at Legal & General, Microsoft, Exxonmobil (ESSO), national Air Traffic Services (NATS), London Underground, Carillion, Slaughter & May, Warwick School Redhill Surrey, England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB), HP CDS, Southern Gas Networks (SGN) & CSM Bakery Solutions.
So technology in coaching does not frighten me. I embrace it to make both the administration and delivery easier. I could fix your home computer for a fee of course. A tablet may appear for registers, but some times will reappear if I need to make notes on a player or show them what I am looking for either by a demo and reinforced by a picture on the tablet. Handy for rainy day sessions indoors as well.
My coaching Philosophy is wrapped up in my tag lines “to instil….” but communication – talking to your player or players is best. Yes also set up the right environment for them so they can play, but communication is a key for me and the other key is of course fun.
Enjoy your sport it is the only way to improve and for information my qualifications under About me.
